Love this Barbara. We have lots to share on Wyeth as I got to see The Farnsworth for the first time and see Wyeth's just released drawings in its premier show there. Mary introduced me to Helga and we watch the documentary on Wyeth with her there, just released by PBS. Wyeth country is amazing.
To inspire creativity
What would you do if a special art event were canceled due to bad weather?

Barbara happily enjoying Brandywine River
You could go home…not; paint in the thunderstorms…unlikely…paint in your car…perhaps…go to the nearest pub…good possibility. In our circumstance we decided to stroll through the museum.
Me feeling a little disheveled in the rain, but enjoying the Museum.
Already having arrived at Brandywine River Museum of Art in Chadds Ford, PA excited and ready to paint at Kuerners Farm I received this message:
I am sorry to say that due to the forecast of heavy rains and thunderstorms, we are going to cancel tonight’s “Evening at Kuerners” plein air event.
Kuerners Farm was a major inspiration of Andrew Wyeth. Disappointed we took advantage of the current circumstances and decided to tour Brandywine River Museum of Art. Together we studied Andrew Wyeth’s paintings attempting to see his technique, colors, symbolism and undertones of the paintings. Intrigued we continued to value the learning experience together as artists and were mesmerized by his works of art. We missed out on N.C. Wyeth and Jamie Wyeth for lack of time.
I’m inspired to attempt some of his techniques such as egg tempera due to its luster of color, however I don’t think I have the temperament for it. I respect who he was as an artist; an independent spirit, unrestrained, connecting to his subjects in a manner that most cannot, it’s uncanning yet chilling, alone and isolated.
The next time you’re in a museum take a friend and REALLY look at the paintings. What do you look at? What emotion do you feel? Are you seeing shapes, colors, brushstrokes, a narrative?
